Where curiosity shapes knowledge
Research here transcends disciplines to create new frontiers of knowledge. Through its specialised research centres and interdisciplinary schools, the University embodies a distinctive “research-first” approach to discovery and innovation.
From ideas to impact
Translational research at TCG CREST bridges the gap between fundamental discovery and societal application, transforming innovative ideas into breakthrough solutions that address current challenges in health, humanities, energy, environment, and technology.
Knowledge without boundaries
The University builds partnerships across continents, connecting minds, ideas, and institutions to address shared global challenges. Rooted in India’s intellectual heritage, we foster a collaborative ecosystem where knowledge transcends borders to create lasting global impact.
The education at TCG CREST is designed to advance multi-disciplinary, fundamental and translational research, sparking innovation across frontier areas such as sustainable healthcare, energy transitions, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and the arts and humanities.
TCG CREST has partnered with reputed institutions, including Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI), National Institute of Technology–Durgapur (NIT-Durgapur), Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI) and Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR), to offer joint PhD Programmes.
The School of Natural Sciences advances fundamental and applied sciences to drive interdisciplinary education and innovation in areas such as sustainable energy, translational neuroscience, cancer research, quantum technologies and food science.
The School of Mathematics and Computer Sciences leads cutting-edge research and education in pure and applied mathematics, theoretical computer science, artificial intelligence, and data science.
The School aims to transform health systems by fostering health resilience, improving quality and safety in healthcare, reducing costs, and mitigating the impacts of climate change on human health.
The School aims to bridge the Arts and Humanities with the Social Sciences by drawing in scholars from various disciplinary backgrounds in History, Literature, Social and Cultural Anthropology, Sociology, Political Science, Development Studies, Film Studies, and Gender Studies
The University’s research-driven approach, strengthened with close collaboration between the University and its specialised Research Centres, fosters a unique ecosystem where inquiry and innovation permeate all levels of study. The institution has made rapid strides in advancing fundamental and translational research through interdisciplinary collaborations addressing some of the world’s most pressing societal challenges.
Prof. Gour P. Das of TCG CREST delivered a keynote at Ranchi University’s NCEFSET 2026, exploring how a century of quantum mechanics has evolved into transformative technologies—from topological materials and graphene to superconducting qubits—connecting foundational science with the possibilities of tomorrow.
A review by Dr. Arpita Nandy and her team at RISE, TCG CREST, published in Applied Energy, examines the evolution and future readiness of microbial hydrogen technologies. The study highlights advances in scale-up, AI, metabolic engineering and materials, while identifying key challenges to commercial deployment.
A research study by Dr. Bidisa Das and her team at RISE, TCG CREST, published in Applied Physics Reviews, explores the role of Cuδ+ active sites in CuSiO₃ for efficient electrocatalytic CO₂ reduction. The work offers insights into catalyst design for sustainable CO₂ utilisation and clean-energy applications
A research study from RISE, TCG CREST, published in Advanced Functional Materials, presents a novel LiBr-rich solid electrolyte interphase strategy for stabilising lithium metal anodes. The work offers fundamental insights into interfacial chemistry, lithium deposition and dendrite suppression, advancing the development of safer, high-energy-density batteries
A research milestone from RISE, TCG CREST, led by Dr. Kingshuk Roy’s group with collaborators at Purdue University and NUS, published in Advanced Energy Materials, offers new insights into stable sodium deposition in anode-less batteries—advancing pattern-guided interface engineering for long-cycling sodium energy storage.
The ARC Certificate Awarding Ceremony marked the successful completion of the Access to Research at CREST (ARC) programme in Sustainable Energy Solutions, offered by RISE, TCG CREST. The programme gave students an opportunity to experience research firsthand, fostering curiosity, critical thinking and perseverance.
The inaugural ARC cohort in Improving Population Health, Advancing Health Equity, offered by the School of Health, Environment and Sustainability Studies, TCG CREST, completed a research journey that took them from research discussions into the Sundarbans. Experiencing healthcare delivery in remote, climate-vulnerable communities offered valuable perspectives on the realities of health equity and the role of research in shaping community-rooted solutions. The journey culminated in their ARC Certificate Awarding Ceremony.
